Your support will enable the Hauturu Supporters Trust to continue in our work supporting the protection and enhancement of Hauturu and sharing the principles of kaitiakitanga. Hauturu is an unrivaled exemplar of those principles.
Published in 2019 with funding from the Trust, Hauturu: The history, flora and fauna of Te Hauturu-o-Toi Little Barrier Island tell the story of Hauturu. Co-edited by prolific conservationist Dick Veitch and the Trust’s former chair Lyn Wade, Hauturu is now the definitive text on Hauturu.
Featuring hundreds of colour prints, Hauturu: The history, flora and fauna of Te Hauturu-o-Toi Little Barrier Island is a beautiful artefact and a perfect gift for anyone with an interest in Hauturu, or conservation generally.
Opportunities for volunteering on Hauturu are very limited. Hauturu can only be visited with a permit. Permits are issued for research, education, cultural or management purposes.
Hauturu is a global symbol of conservation success and innovation. Its status as New Zealand’s oldest nature reserve and its most intact, least disturbed ecosystem makes it truly unique.
The best way you can support the Hauturu Supporters Trust is to contribute financially to our work. We encourage supporters to make an annual or monthly donation.
